Ascent ecosystem

Africa's technology ecosystem is producing world-class founders at a pace that should command global attention. What it lacks isn't ambition or talent — it's the intelligence layer: the market data, the GTM frameworks, the capital intelligence built with an African operator's eye rather than adapted from playbooks written for Boston or Berlin. That gap is what I've built my work around closing. If you understand a market more clearly than the people trying to enter it, you hold real value. That's the thesis.

The work runs across five pillars that feed each other. THINK is where the intelligence lives — the Africa Intelligence Digest, the research, the data-driven content that builds credibility with the people whose respect is worth having. BRAND is Ascent Creative, the agency arm that translates strategy into visual identity and campaigns for African businesses that want to be taken seriously. GROW is the consulting practice — GTM strategy, market entry intelligence, capital positioning for founders preparing to raise or expand. BUILD is the product and engineering work, particularly in AI and automation. FUND is capital intelligence: mapping what's actually moving in African venture, Islamic finance infrastructure, and alternative funding models that most platforms still treat as edge cases.

The Ascent ecosystem is the long-term structure under all of this. Ascent Tech Hub is where the physical and community layer lives — coworking, events, and the kind of room that makes things happen. Ascent Finance is the most focused bet right now: financial tools for African SMEs that replace the spreadsheet-and-WhatsApp stack most businesses are still running on, targeting 5,000 active users by November 2026. Ascent Learn addresses the skills gap at the base — practical, Africa-relevant training for professionals and entrepreneurs who need capabilities, not credentials. Ascent Creative is the agency that makes all of it look right.

The angle I pay particular attention to — and that almost nobody in African fintech is seriously building for — is Islamic finance. Africa has more than 700 million Muslims. The majority have no access to Shariah-compliant financial products that aren't products in name only. That's not a niche. That's a category waiting for infrastructure, advisory, and capital — and I intend to build a meaningful part of it.
